Echocardiography
A diagnostic test that physicians may use to assist in the diagnosis of heart failure. Sound waves are bounced off the heart and recorded and translated into images. The pictures can reveal abnormal heart size, shape and movement. It can also be used to calculate a patient's ejection fraction.
ECG/EKG
Electrocardiogram. A printout of the electrical activity of the heart.
Electromagnetic interference
If an electromagnetic field is very strong, it can interfere with your ICD. It can prevent your ICD from giving you the right treatments or it can even cause your ICD to give you an inappropriate shock.
Extrasystole
A heartbeat that originates from a location other than the sinus node
